Dr. Erica King-Toler is a New York state licensed psychologist and a tenured faculty member at John Jay College, City University of New York. She received her doctoral training at Teachers College, Columbia University in counseling psychology. Dr. King-Toler is a cross-cultural psychologist who specializes in helping practitioners to consider the impact of race, class, culture, gender and religious identities on their work with others. She has worked as a consultant with area hospitals, universities and the NYPD to help improve their multicultural competence practices. She is a member of the New York State Association of Black Psychologists and the American Psychological Association. She is the mother of three young boys two of whom are matriculants at a NYC independent school.
