The Calhoun School is a progressive, independent, college preparatory school located in the heart of Manhattan’s West Side. Founded in 1896, Calhoun has grown into a two-building coeducational institution with 670 students, ranging from three-year-olds to twelfth graders. The school has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Council of Teachers in English (see School History). Teachers in each of our three divisions, a majority of whom have advanced degrees, have been lauded for their challenging curriculum. And our graduating seniors go on to many of the best colleges and universities.
